Story: B.Tech. Babu (RaNa), the grandson of veteran theatre artiste and director Surabhi Subrahmanyam (Kota Srinivasa Rao), does not like the world of stageplays that he's forced into. He plans to leave to the USA for higher studies, away from all the hustle of the theatre. Subrahmanyam pleads, in vain, Babu to get him to play at the Stage Play Festival in Bellary. A disappointed Subrahmanyam dies in sleep after writing his magnum opus play titled Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum. Babu learns that Subrahmanyam wanted his ashes to be immersed in the Tungabhadra river at his birthplace, Bellary. Babu is now determined to act in the play his grandfather wrote for him. The troupe (Raghubabu, Satyam Rajesh, Hema, etc.) leaves to Bellary, where mining mafia headed by Reddappa (Milind Gunaji) dominates the law and controls the land. A daring journalist Devika (Nayanatara) comes to Bellary too, investigating about the mining mafia. Why Subrahmanyam wanted his grandson to stage the play in Bellary, how Devika and Babu cross paths, and how does Reddappa's mafia and his rivalry with Karnata Chakravarthy (Murali Sharma) come into picture form the rest of the film.
